Please spend some time to read my previous newsletters again to understand the basics behind these self-esteem building exercises.

7 day self-esteem building program

10 day self-esteem building program

The first couple of days of this 30 day self-esteem building program are for setting your goal for the next 4 weeks. Decide what you would like to do.

What is the major purpose of your 30 day self-esteem building exercise?

Do you want to loose weight?

Would you like to spend more time with your beloved kids?

Do you have to take a test?

Would you like to have a new job?

No matter what it is you have to think about the possibilities how you are going to achieve it.

Spend the first 2 or 3 days to plan your action. Figure out in details what you have to do in order to accomplish the most important task in the next 30 days.

"If I had four hours to chop down a tree, I would spend three hours sharpening my axe." - Abraham Lincoln

Week 1: Break down your goals into small, achievable steps. If you have a very broad goal such as being at ease socially, it is such a large goal that there is no chance of instant success.

A goal like this should be broken down into smaller steps so that you can see a little bit of progress. Approaching one person at the next social event you attend is a manageable goal that you can reach so you can see evidence of progress.

Do something everyday to get closer to your chosen goal. Be prepared and act. Action creates solution, so do it!

Week 2: Control negative thinking. If you keep telling yourself you can’t do something, guess what? You won’t be able to do it. Controlling your thoughts is one of the first achievable goals you can attain.

Replace each self-critical thought with an encouraging thought. This will take practice, but with a goal of building self-esteem and confidence, this is something that you will need to work on each and every day.

Week 3: Keep track of your progress. Since your goals have been broken down into smaller pieces, it’s easy to lose sight of the big picture. Keep a journal or some kind of log to record your efforts. You’ll be surprised how far you’ve come in a month or two. You may even reach a point you find it hard to believe it was you that made the initial entry.

Week 4: Take a risk. One sure-fire way of building self-confidence is by challenging yourself to take a risk to do something that you’d rather not do. As William Jennings Bryan said, “The way to develop self-confidence is to do the thing you fear.”

Now, look back and reward yourself for the quality job you have done. Congratulation.
